First, The Cat Who Walked Across France by Kate Banks. The illustrations are gorgeous, as are all of Georg Hallensleben's books, but the text was a little disappointing. I love the premise of the story, but the writing was not as lyrical as I had hoped.
Fine to check out of the library.
Second, Sing a Song of Sixpence by Jane Chapman. This is a good compilation of nursery rhymes. Some are only a page long, and some are several pages long (Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks). A good choice. I would buy this if I was more into nursery rhymes.
Third, Can You Make a Piggy Giggle? by Linda Ashman. This is a fun book about a boy trying to get a pig to giggle by doing all sorts of funny things. This book has fun illustrations and a good message about not being able to please everyone all the time. A good library check-out.
Finally, Hurry! Hurry! by Eve Bunting. This is a fun picture book with great illustrations of farm animals. The animals have unbelievably winsome faces. This is a good purchase.
All in all, a good day at the library.
